some thoughts on motherhood, marriage, learning to love my own face in the mirror, wondering about the lady in the tangerine coat in the bean aisle at the market, writing - the usual suspects.

Quickly Be Saved
LUV-N-CARE CHILDREN'S WORLD ...
is trying to tell us something?
If it's JESUS IS COMIN QUICKLY
I would encourage him to pace himself.
or
If it's QUICKLY BE SAVED
A little panic attack-ish, don't you think?
Claire said, "How do you get saved, Mom?"
"I don't know, buddy. Going to the river?"

So I Could Get Here
Claire and I were walking to the bus stop when I saw the armada of geese floating on the lake.
"Damn, the geese are back!" I said.
"Don't get me wrong, Mom," Claire said. "Jesus was probably a very nice guy. He seemed just a little homeless though, I don't know. And kinda scary with the beard and stuff. I like guys clean-shaven."
Had we been talking about Jesus?
"Clean-shaven? Huh. I didn't know that," I said.
"Clean-shaven? Huh. I didn't know that," I said.
We passed the tall pines near Bev's house.
"Well, it's not like I think Jesus, or God, put me in your belly, I mean, I know you and Dad had to have sex so I could get here."
"Hmmm...Well, I can tell you this, Claire. I wasn't thinking about Jesus when Dad and I made you."
