The Ability To Worry

Monday morning...

I found an old letter from Dad which he'd written on the back of a xeroxed sheet of paper called ~

Symptoms of Inner Peace.

Here are a few symptoms to be on the look-out for today...

A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experience.

An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

Frequent attacks of smiling.

An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.

and my favorite...

A loss of the ability to worry.
(this is a very serious symptom)

  1. I love stories like yours! For the last few years, I have had the pleasure of following SYMPTOMS OF INNER PEACE around the internet. Since I wrote it in 1984, it seems it has traveled the world in pockets and old letter files and boxes of treasures found by loved ones, usually surfacing at just the right time.

There are more symptoms in the original piece. You can find it at www.symptomsofinnerpeace.net.
If you could please add my name and ©1984, I would very much appreciate it. A link would be very welcome, too.

    All the Best!

  2. Saksia! Thanks so much for your note. And for authoring these symptoms. Yes, there are more in the original...

There wasn't a name or link on the paper I found, otherwise I most certainly would have included it. I will go back and add it now.

So glad to hear from you!

    Peace,
    Betsy
